Mushroom Supplements to Sell on Amazon: Which Mushrooms, Formats and Specs to Choose

Five mushrooms, one blend category: the core of most mushroom ranges we build for online brands.

Choosing mushroom supplements to sell on Amazon comes down to three decisions: which mushroom, which format, and which number goes on the certificate of analysis (COA). Five mushrooms cover most of what brands ask us to make: lion’s mane, cordyceps militaris, reishi, turkey tail and chaga, plus multi-mushroom coffee and lattes.

Most of the brands we work with sell in North America and Europe, on Amazon and on their own websites. This guide is a product-selection map built from that work: where each mushroom usually sits on the virtual shelf, the formats that suit it, and the specification to lock in before you order.

The Short List: Mushroom Supplements to Sell on Amazon

Which mushrooms should a new brand consider? Start with lion’s mane, cordyceps militaris, reishi, turkey tail and chaga. Each has a recognizable name with overseas shoppers, a clear shopping category, and a measurable quality marker such as beta-glucan, polysaccharides, triterpenes or cordycepin. Multi-mushroom coffee and lattes add a sixth, drink-led option.

How Shoppers Browse Mushroom Supplements

Overseas shoppers rarely search for a mushroom by its botanical name. They browse by the part of daily life they care about, and mushroom supplements tend to cluster in four groups:

  • Focus and daily mental routine:lion’s mane
  • Energy and active lifestyles:cordyceps militaris
  • Immune support:reishi, turkey tail and chaga
  • Functional food and drinks:mushroom coffee, reishi lattes and turmeric lattes

These groups describe where a product is positioned, not what you can print on the label. In the US, any structure/function statement must carry the standard FDA disclaimer. In the EU, only authorized health claims may be used, and the list is short. Have every label and listing reviewed for the market it will be sold in. Our mushroom supplement compliance guide covers the rules by region.

Mushroom by Mushroom: Formats and Specs to Ask For

Lion’s Mane (Hou Tou Gu): Capsules, Gummies and Tinctures

Lion’s mane is the mushroom most often linked with focus and work-day routines. Capsules, gummies and tinctures (liquid drops) are its most common formats, and lion’s mane is also one of the four mushrooms in our main mushroom coffee formula.

  • Specify:beta-glucan, not just total polysaccharides. Polysaccharides can be set from 20% to 50%, and extracts with 15% or more beta-glucan are available.
  • Avoid:plain, untested mushroom powder sold without a test report.

Our lion’s mane is cultivated in greenhouses and extracted at low temperature. See private label lion’s mane supplements for a format-by-format guide.

Cordyceps Militaris (Yong Chong Cao): Capsules and Cordyceps Coffee

Cordyceps militaris sits in the energy and active-lifestyle category. Capsules are the classic format, and cordyceps coffee gives a brand a product that fits into an existing morning habit.

  • Specify:cordycepin and adenosine, both with a stated minimum.
  • Ask about the process:both compounds are heat-sensitive and can break down at high temperatures, so look for low-temperature extraction.

Our cordyceps militaris extract guide explains how to write both markers into a specification.

Reishi (Ling Zhi): Capsules, Spore Products and Tinctures

Reishi is one of the best-known medicinal mushrooms in the world and a core ingredient in the immune-support category. Extract capsules, tinctures and reishi lattes are common starting points.

  • Specify:polysaccharides (20–50%) and triterpenes (4–10%), set to your product.
  • Spore products:cracked-wall spore powder (wall-breaking rate of 99% or higher) and spore oil (total triterpenes from 10% to 35%, customized) can extend a reishi line.

Our reishi is grown on hardwood logs at our own forest base in Fujian. The private label reishi supplements guide compares six reishi formats.

Turkey Tail (Yun Zhi): Extract Capsules and Powders

Turkey tail, named for its banded, fan-shaped caps, belongs in the immune-support category alongside reishi. Brands usually build around a standardized extract in capsules or powder, or add it to a multi-mushroom blend.

  • Specify:beta-glucan, the key marker for turkey tail extract, with the test method named on the COA.
  • Ask:whether the extract comes from the fruiting body or mycelium, since these are different raw materials.

Chaga (Bai Hua Rong): Coffee Blends, Powders and Tinctures

Chaga grows on birch trees and has a dark, earthy character that suits drinks. It appears in immune-support products and is one of the four mushrooms in our main mushroom coffee formula.

  • Specify:polysaccharides or beta-glucan on the finished-product COA, with the test method.
  • Plan the blend:if chaga is one ingredient among several, agree on its amount per serving.

Multi-Mushroom Coffee and Lattes

Mushroom coffee, reishi lattes and turmeric lattes made with mushroom ingredients are well suited to social content and help DTC brands build a product that looks different on the shelf. Our main four-mushroom coffee combines reishi, lion’s mane, cordyceps and chaga, and the mix can be changed to your brief.

  • Specify:each extract and its marker, the amount per serving, the coffee or latte base, and the pack (stick packs or pouches).

Mushroom Supplement Formats Compared

Which format should you launch first? Capsules are the simplest to specify and test. Gummies and tinctures reach shoppers who dislike pills. Coffee and lattes turn a supplement into a daily habit and suit subscription offers. The right choice depends on your channel, price point and the shopper you want to reach.

Format Why brands choose it What to specify Daily capacity at Herbal Treasure
Capsules Familiar, easy to dose Extract, marker, amount per capsule Up to 3 million capsules on 4 lines
Powders and drink mixes Coffee, lattes, smoothies Marker, mesh size (80–1,000), serving 600,000–800,000 sachets
Gummies Pill-free, giftable Pectin base, sugar level, marker More than 3 tonnes
Tinctures Liquid drops for daily rituals Alcohol or glycerin base, marker per serving 30,000–50,000 bottles filled

Our gummies are made with pectin only, never gelatin, and can be low-sugar or sugar-free. Tinctures can use an alcohol or glycerin base. In September 2026 we added 16 ready gummy formulas and 8 ready tincture formulas to our library. More detail is in our mushroom gummies and tinctures guide.

The Costly Mistake: Buying a Label Instead of a Spec

The most common mistake we see is trusting the word “extract” on a label and skipping the third-party COA. Two products can both be sold as lion’s mane extract, one at 20% polysaccharides and one at 50%. Their cost and quality are very different, yet the labels can look almost the same.

The fix is simple: write the marker, the target level and the test method into your specification, and check every batch against it. Our article on beta-glucan vs polysaccharides explains why the marker you choose matters.

What Amazon Checks Before a Mushroom Supplement Goes Live

In Amazon’s US store, dietary supplements must be verified by an approved third-party testing, inspection and certification (TIC) organization before they can be sold. According to testing bodies that run this verification, such as SGS, it typically covers:

  • Identity and potency: labeled ingredients are present at the claimed amounts
  • Contaminants: heavy metals and microbials
  • A review of the label against Amazon’s requirements
  • Manufacture in a cGMP-compliant facility

For your factory, this means the spec sheet, the label and the finished product must match. Amazon updates these rules from time to time, so confirm the current requirements in Seller Central before you launch.

Certifications to Match Your Target Market

Each market looks for different paperwork. Ask your manufacturer which certificates are held in the factory’s own name, and check the scope printed on each one.

  • United States:an FDA-registered facility, cGMP manufacturing and, for organic claims, USDA Organic
  • European Union:EU Organic for organic products, plus checks on Novel Food status for each ingredient
  • Canada:a Health Canada Foreign Site Reference Number (FSRN) for the manufacturing site, and Canada Organic for organic claims
  • Middle East and other Muslim-majority markets:Halal
  • Kosher-observant shoppers:Kosher

How to Choose Your First Mushroom SKU

  1. Pick the categoryyour brand wants to own: focus, energy, immune support or functional drinks.
  2. Match the mushroomto that category using the table above.
  3. Choose one formatthat fits your channel and price point. Many brands start with capsules or a mushroom coffee, then add gummies or tinctures.
  4. Lock the spec:the marker, its level, the test method and, for powders, the mesh size.
